Is My Gut Right

I always here people say, "trust your gut".

Is my child using drugs?

Why is my child a behavior problem when so much love and respect has been role modeled by me?

Does he pretend to forget what I said? Or forget to remember?

These are a few of the many questions I asked myself before my children were assessed for the diagnosis of mood disorders.

So yes, trust your gut.

I waited, mostly because I was working 50 hours a week, a single parent, one income and frazzled beyond belief!

I waited until one of my children was suicidal. Thank God he came to me one night and told me he wanted to die. I am grateful my children know regardless of what is going on they can come to me about anything.

His grades were declining for six months before he came to me. He was an A student and went to C's and D's. Red flag? ABSOLUTELY!

Call your pediatrician, request a psychiatric assessment. Better safe than sorry.

My child will take meds for life for his mood disorder, and enjoy a fulfilling productive life thanks to the specialty of child psychiatry.
